OWING ASSET IS DIFFERENT FROM HAVING CASH
One day, I drove into BOVAS petrol station from okefia area, the petrol guage was on red alert, I had just #200 cash, nothing in bank. I thought it will be better to go park the car at home since I don't have means of refueling, I decided to fuel the car with my last #200 incase the remaining fuel won't take me home.
As I approached the petrol attendant I imagined how to buy #200 fuel , the car I drove was Lexus 300 SUV. So the kind of car was why it was difficult for me.
I saw a beautiful lady petrol attendant I didn't stop in front of her, i went to the guy next to her, just when I got in front of him, manager called him, so the girl I ran away from had to come sell for me.
She: are you using POS Sir?
Me: No
She: how much should I sell
Me: #200 (stammered)
She: #2000?
Me: no sell #200 ( now regaining confidence)
Surprise was written all over her, I looked away, she sold it and I drove off
Just around vanguard supermarket an old friend wave me down and I stopped. He just left a restaurant, he had tooth pick in his mouth.
Him: wale you are big man o, it's Jeep you are driving now, your money has come o.
Me: am just managing my friend.
How do I tell him I do not have a Kobo on me?
How do I explain I have not eaten any food since morning and do not have any means of eating for a whole day?
I saw some naira note in his pocket but how do I sit in a car and beg this guy trekking for money? He won't trust me while I was thinking this , he said
Him: wale give your boy something nah
Me: I have nothing with me here presently, if you give me I will take sef.
Him: don't be a stingy friend, you that is driving big man car
We exchange greetings and I left on my empty stomach in car, he left trekking on a filled tummy, such is life.
I parked my car at home and trekked to office, took me another 4 days to regain myself from low cash..
Sometimes we assume people are rich from the items we see around them. Many had to contribute money every week sometimes everyday to achieve some things you see them buy, some take loans and after buying the item to people they are millionaire while within the person there is a Debt that has to be cleared.
Imagine someone who bought a costly car trekking to office from home for a week cos he had no Kobo on him after purchase but can't tell anyone cos they felt he's rich.
Same way you see some parent take there child to the best and most expensive school, not because they are rich but because they want there children to also have the best education, parent out there are owed salary by government, but that doesn't stop them from giving their child the best. And when people see them they be like 'wow' you people are rich ooo, not knowing what they are battling with.
Some people buy car they have today by contributing money per week or month until it is complete to buy a 3 million worth of car.
Likewise some people been building house for 10yrs gradually, when the project comes up, then we think you are super rich.
Someone riding a muscle Camry maybe struggling to pay rent.
that flourishing business/ supermarket the owner maybe in debt.
Don't just assume people are wealthy by the things you see around them or with them.
Things are not always as they appear. Owing asset is different from having cash. Don't judge a book by it's cover.
And don't feel bad for being broke many people are in same situation.
